The Hotel Portmeirion has since 1926 been the focal point of the village except for the period 1981 to 1988 when it was closed for restoration after a fire. The hotel was restored faithfully to Clough's original design in all respects other than the main entrance front. Clough's 1930s curvilinear entrance housed the reception desk and provided back office accommodation. Listed building consent has now been granted to restore this important feature and it is hoped that the work can be carried out between November 2009 and March 2010.
