Set in the heart of the Weald of Kent, in one of Cranbrook’s most historic buildings, The George Hotel has earned a reputation for being one of Kent’s foremost boutique hotels with a highly-rated restaurant and brasserie.
Built to cater for the travelling merchants of England’s burgeoning broadcloth industry, The George dates back to 1300 and was visited by Queen Elizabeth in 1573. Flanked by two full suits of armour, the magnificent staircase leads up to 12 individually-designed rooms, including the one where Elizabeth spent the night, which combine period features with striking contemporary décor.
The hotel is listed in both The Good Food Guide and Alistair Sawday’s Special Places to Stay
